Growing Healthy Habits for Life

At The Village Early Learning Centre, we provide meals based on a whole food vegetarian menu, including dairy, eggs, and a wide range of plant-based proteins such as legumes.

We have chosen this approach for several important reasons. Firstly, we believe that introducing tamariki to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables helps to build healthy eating habits from an early age, supporting their growth and wellbeing.

Healthy Eating, Strong Foundations

Secondly, a vegetarian menu is a more environmentally sustainable choice, and as part of our commitment to keeping children safe, it also reduces the risk of harmful bacteria such as E. coli associated with raw meat.

Most importantly, we are mindful of the diverse backgrounds of our whānau. By offering vegetarian meals, we aim to create an inclusive environment where every child can comfortably share in mealtimes, regardless of cultural or religious beliefs, while still receiving a balanced and nutritious diet.
